Description
Fuchsin basic M.S., commonly known as basic fuchsin, is a synthetic dye belonging to the family of triarylmethane dyes. It is widely used in histology and microbiology as a staining agent due to its ability to selectively stain acidic structures such as collagen, mucins, and granules in tissues and cells.
Basic fuchsin is typically utilized in various staining techniques, including the Ziehl-Neelsen stain for the detection of acid-fast bacteria, such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and the Schmorl’s stain for staining cytoplasmic granules in blood cells.
