Description
Brilliant green stain powder is a synthetic dye commonly used as a biological stain in microbiology. It is often employed in Gram staining procedures to differentiate between Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Brilliant green binds to the peptidoglycan layer of Gram-positive bacteria, staining them green, while it does not bind well to the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria, which are instead stained pink by the counterstain. Additionally, brilliant green stain powder can be used in various other staining techniques for the visualization and identification of microorganisms.
