Description
Borax, also known as sodium tetraborate decahydrate, is a white crystalline compound consisting of sodium ions (Na⁺) and tetraborate ions (B4O7²⁻) with ten water molecules bound to it. It is commonly found as a mineral in evaporite deposits. Borax has various industrial and household applications, including as a cleaning agent, a buffering agent in chemical laboratories, a flux in metallurgy, and a precursor in the manufacture of boron compounds. It is also used in some cosmetics and personal care products.
