Description

1,2-Benzenediamine, also known as o-phenylenediamine (OPD), is an organic compound consisting of a benzene ring with two amino (-NH2) groups attached at the 1 and 2 positions. It is a white to slightly yellow crystalline solid that is soluble in water. 1,2-Benzenediamine is primarily used in the production of dyes, particularly azo dyes, and as a component in the synthesis of polymers, including aramid fibers and polyurethanes. It is also employed in the formulation of hair dyes and certain rubber products.
